THE LONELY WITCH

Her wrinkled hands
dropped
the recherché ingredients
into the black
boiling
pot

the good stuff
the rare stuff
the pieces of eight
from ocean’s bottom
wrapped in the suction cup
of a giant squid

pieces of eyeball from
an invisible man
hair of yeti
bandage of mummy
and blood of nosferatu

stirring the mix
with an alien leg bone
she always felt alone

took half her life
to find those ingredients
and still
he probably
wouldn’t
ever
really
love her.
